Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani inaugurated, yesterday evening , Saturday, the People’s General Hospital with a capacity of (246) beds, one of the stalled projects that the government worked to complete, stressing that it is the “first general hospital” to be built in Baghdad in about four decades .
Al-Sudani toured the corridors and departments of the hospital, which is distinguished by its spacious building, accompanied by the Minister of Health, a number of members of the House of Representatives, and the Governor of Baghdad. He also viewed the modern medical equipment and various service requirements .
The Prime Minister directed the Turkish company that will operate the hospital to ensure that this building is coupled with the best medical and health services provided to citizens, explaining that the standard of success will depend on the extent of the citizen’s satisfaction with the medical and health services provided within the hospital .
Al-Sudani met with a number of representatives of the region’s residents, in the presence of members of the House of Representatives, where he appreciated the efforts of the local governments in Baghdad since 2013, as well as the efforts of the current local government, which has exerted its utmost effort, along with the official authorities, to complete this project .
He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health in completing the project despite the many complications it faced, and also appreciated the efforts of the Iraqi company implementing the project, and considered it a source of pride and honor that the implementation was at this high level .
The Prime Minister stressed that Al-Shaab Hospital is the first public hospital to be built in Baghdad in about four decades, pointing out the government’s keenness to complete all stalled and suspended projects in Baghdad and the governorates, as it was able to complete more than 50% of the stalled projects .
Al-Sudani explained that the service and health care cannot be delayed, and must be available to the citizen in his country instead of traveling outside Iraq, stressing the government’s progress towards completing the infrastructure of the health sector, and improving health services by relying on the method of operation and management of hospitals in cooperation with the private sector, relying on specialized international institutions .
The total area of the People’s General Hospital is (16) dunums, and includes various medical departments and consulting clinics in various specialties, general surgery departments, a laboratory and a blood bank, and housing for resident medical staff consisting of 75 apartments, in addition to a cafeteria and seating areas for visitors and external and internal gardens. It is also equipped with various advanced and modern medical treatment devices.
