A security source in Nineveh Governorate reported the arrival of 191 families of ISIS members to Al-Jadaa camp in Al-Qayyarah district, south of Mosul.
The source said, “Iraq received 191 ISIS families, equivalent to 710 individuals,” indicating that “these families consist of residents of the Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and Anbar governorates, and this batch is part of the eighteenth batch of family rehabilitation operations.”
This step comes within the framework of an agreement between the Iraqi government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which aims to return Iraqi citizens from the Syrian Al-Hawl camp to Iraq, where they are transported through the Rabia border crossing, then subjected to security checks in the Al-Jadaa camp before being allowed to return to their original areas.
It is noteworthy that Iraq had previously recovered multiple batches of Iraqi families from Al-Hol camp, as 706 people from 181 families were transferred in October 2024, 185 families in April 2024, and 173 families in June 2024, as part of the Iraqi government’s efforts to close Al-Hol camp and reduce security threats across the border with Syria.
