Nineveh Provincial Council Deputy, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Jubouri, confirmed that there is no agreement yet to resume holding council sessions .
Al-Jubouri said that many initiatives were launched and dialogues were held to resolve the crisis that has swept through . The Council on the background of the election and appointment of heads of administrative units .
He explained that the issue has not been resolved despite those meetings, while he called for the application of the law in dealing with members who are absent from the upcoming sessions in order to reconvene the sessions and pass important decisions related to projects, the issue of mukhtars, financial dues and services.
For his part, the head of the Nineveh Future Bloc, Muhammad Haris, said that the dialogues are still ongoing between the council members and the political blocs in it to end the current crisis that has caused the disruption of the council’s work .
Haris said that the recent initiative of the Nineveh Governor aimed to bring the viewpoints of the parties within the council closer together, and he indicated that these dialogues and meetings achieved positive results that will be reflected in the convening of sessions soon.
As for the member of the Nineveh Council from the Unified Nineveh Bloc, Abdullah al-Nujaifi, he pointed out that the political forces in the council have not yet reached solutions to end the crisis and reconvene the council sessions.
Al-Nujaifi said that the current initiatives to end the crisis are ongoing and that negotiations between the council members are continuing and we are waiting for solutions in the coming period.
