The statement added that complaints from the governorate’s departments indicated “Al-Jubouri’s bad conduct and behaviour”, which caused damage to the interests of the party and the masses, stressing that the party’s leadership decided to expel Al-Jubouri from its ranks and organisations in Diyala Governorate.

In the same context, the head of the Azm Alliance in Diyala Governorate, MP Raad Al-Dahlaki, confirmed that retreating from the political agreements under which the local government was formed represents a dangerous turning point, which could leave negative repercussions that extend beyond Diyala and affect the rest of the governorates, which will lead to confusion in the political scene in general .

Al-Dahlaki said, “What Diyala witnessed today in terms of violating the agreements related to forming the local government and ignoring all previous agreements is a matter of regret, and we hold the Sunni parties (representatives of the component) in the council responsible for it, as they wasted the rights of our people in the local government .”

Al-Dahlaki added, “The Diyala Provincial Council’s vote to dismiss the council’s chairman, Mr. Omar Al-Karwi, is a dangerous turning point that will have negative effects on the stability of the situation in the province and on the effectiveness of its council and local government .”

He pointed out that “this decision reflects the continued state of weakness suffered by the Federal House of Representatives as a result of divisions and failure to adhere to consensus .”

Earlier on Tuesday, Diyala Provincial Council Chairman Omar Al-Karwi described the decision to dismiss him as “illegal .”

Al-Karawi said, “The session to dismiss me is illegal, and I will resort to the judiciary to appeal the decision .” He pointed out that “the dismissal decision was taken without interrogation ,” noting that “what happened was a seizure of positions in the (Sunni) component by certain blocs .”
