A security source in Salah al-Din revealed, on Tuesday evening, the identities of the three international coalition soldiers, one of whom was killed and the other two injured in a security operation in Iraq .

The source said, “The three soldiers hold American citizenship and were in a joint security operation with Iraqi forces, to track down important elements of the terrorist organization ISIS in the border strip between Kirkuk and Salahuddin governorates.”

He stressed that “the operation was important and achieved its goals by killing a terrorist group affiliated with ISIS after clashing with them, and it also left a victim from the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service and the three American soldiers.”

Earlier today, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the death of a coalition member in an operation against ISIS in Iraq last week.

The US Central Command said in a statement that coalition forces carried out joint operations against the terrorist organization ISIS in Iraq and Syria between December 30, 2024 and January 6.

She added that one member of the coalition forces was killed and two others were injured during seven days of operations against ISIS in Iraq.

On December 30, 2024, a security source in Kirkuk confirmed that a member of the Counter-Terrorism Service had been killed in armed clashes with ISIS elements, while the head of the service offered his condolences to the victim’s family.

The source explained that “the clashes resulted in the death of a member of the Counter-Terrorism Service, Kirkuk Regiment.”
