An Iraqi security source reported yesterday , Wednesday, that a Kuwaiti fighter plane crashed on the borders of the Iraqi province of Basra, which was confirmed by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense .

The source said, “We have received information about the crash of a Kuwaiti Air Force F18 fighter jet.” Near the Iraqi border, south of Umm Qasr district in Basra Governorate .

The source said, “There are suspicions that the aforementioned plane was exposed to hostile fire from Iranian air defenses while flying within the airspace with Iran in the Gulf .”

F18 fighter jet belonging to the Kuwaiti Air Force crashed, killing the pilot, while he was carrying out a training flight mission in the north of the country on Wednesday afternoon .”

He added that “the investigation teams are carrying out their tasks to find out the details and causes of the accident.”
