The Civil Status and Passports Directorate has determined new facilities for Iraqis wishing to obtain a passport, as it has cancelled the restriction on the applicant’s area of residence, and is satisfied with the national card .
A document signed by the Director General, Major General Nashat Ibrahim Al-Khafaji, revealed : In accordance with the provisions of Passport Law No. (32) of 2015 and Passport System No. (2) of 2011, and in implementation of the principle of simplifying procedures, the Minister of Interior has approved the granting of a passport to a citizen from any of the passport departments distributed within the Republic of Iraq, without being restricted to his place of residence .
He pointed out that “the national card is only used in the mechanism for applying for an electronic passport based on the text of Article (2) / Second – C) of the National Card Law No. (3) of 2016.”
