An Iraqi security source reported, last Tuesday evening , that all security forces entered a state of maximum alert “C”, with full deployment within the areas of responsibility, and control of entrances and checkpoints, in preparation for any emergency .
The source explained Directives were issued yesterday to deploy forces in empty spaces, following the attack that targeted Baghdad airport .
He explained that this measure came in anticipation of the possibility of attacks targeting the headquarters of the American missions, while he indicated that the security deployment in the Green Zone of the Special Forces is a natural measure .
On the other hand, the Prime Minister’s media office reported in a brief statement that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, visited the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command in Baghdad to follow up on developments .
The tough security measure comes as tensions in the region escalate after an Iranian missile attack on Israel, prompting diplomatic missions to take precautionary measures.
