The formation of the (Unified Sunni Leadership Coalition) was announced in the capital, Baghdad, yesterday evening, Tuesday , bringing together a number of Sunni political figures in Iraq.
According to a statement by the Sovereignty Alliance, “the coalition includes the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, the head of the Sovereignty Alliance, Khamis Al-Khanjar, the head of the Azm Alliance, Muthanna Al-Samarrai, the head of the Al-Jamaheer Party, Ahmed Al-Jubouri (Abu Mazen), and Ziad Al-Janabi, the head of the Initiative Bloc.”
He pointed out that “the announcement of the coalition came after a closed meeting that included political leaders in Baghdad.”
He explained that “the new political coalition’s program will be announced later, and its leaders will take it upon themselves to proceed with the completion of the humanitarian, human rights, legal and political files and to obtain them for the Sunni component throughout Iraq and the northern and western governorates in particular.”
