The Military Operations Department in Syria announced the arrest of the official in charge of “political security” in the former regime, Riad Hassan, in the capital, Damascus .
This comes after the Military Operations Administration in Syria announced the launch of a broad security campaign in areas of the country, to pursue those it described as “remnants of the Assad regime .”
The administration said that such campaigns aim to “maintain security, stability and civil peace and pursue the remnants of Assad’s militias .”
The new authorities launched similar campaigns in various parts of Syria, including the coastal region in the west of the country, the stronghold of the Alawite sect .
The authorities had previously announced the arrest of “major figures from the remnants of the Assad regime and rioters in Tartous on the Syrian coast.”
