Sheikh Hatem Ahmed Al-Samarra’i, the preacher of Umm Al-Tabool Mosque, said yesterday, Friday, that the state is the one that should sponsor the mosques, and that the Sunni Endowment Office represents the state .
Al-Samarra’i added, in his first sermon after taking over the management of Umm al-Tabool Mosque, after “removing” Mahdi al-Sumaida’i from his management by “force,” that “the state is the one that must take care of the mosques, and the Sunni Endowment Office represents the state and takes care of what the mosque needs .”
He said, “Today we feel comfortable and reassured and we feel that this mosque will be included under the list of endowments .”
Al-Faraji continued, “After this day, prayers, Quranic courses, and religious awareness will begin under the auspices of the Sunni Endowment Office, which represents the state .”
On Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, a security source reported that the Director of Baghdad Endowments, Karkh, officially took over the management of the “Umm al-Taboul” Mosque in Baghdad, announcing the end of Mahdi al-Sumaidaie’s control over the aforementioned mosque, so that it would return completely to the Sunni Endowment .
The source explained that a special security force raided the “Umm al-Taboul” mosque in the capital, Baghdad, in implementation of a judicial decision to evacuate the mosque from any illegal presence .
He stated that the operation resulted in the arrest of 4 of Al-Sumaidaie’s security personnel who tried to prevent the implementation of the decision.
