A security source in Nineveh Governorate reported With the launch of a joint security inspection operation on the Iraqi-Syrian border .
The source said “A joint Iraqi force launched A security operation under the supervision of the Nineveh Operations Command of the Popular Mobilization Forces, with the aim of enhancing security and stability in the depths of the border island between Iraq and Syria, and within the framework of ongoing efforts to fill the security and military gaps in the region .
He added, “Iraqi forces are carrying out periodic military operations to ensure the stability of the region and protect it from potential threats .”
This security operation comes amid reports of escalating tensions on the Iraqi-Syrian border, and with intensive Iraqi security reinforcements there since the escalation of events in Syria .
