The National Security Service announced yesterday , Tuesday, the arrest of 7 people who glorified the banned Baath Party in Nineveh .
The device said in a statement: “The National Security Service detachments in Nineveh Governorate, after obtaining judicial approvals, carried out arrest operations that included 7 defendants on the grounds of exploiting the celebrations and gathering of citizens for the national team’s victory in the match that took place last week, by chanting slogans glorifying the banned Baath Party .”
He added, “The arrest came after field follow-up and careful monitoring of public gatherings to prevent any situation that threatens community peace .”
He pointed out that “the accused were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take legal action against them based on the law banning the banned Baath Party No. ( 32 ) of 2016 , which includes the prosecution of promoters of the defunct regime and its glorification.”
