The Federal Integrity Commission reported yesterday , Sunday, that its Chairman, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, directed the investigation into one of the major financial and administrative corruption cases related to gold smuggling .
The government media and communications office of the authority said in a statement that “Al-Lami directed the legal department of the authority to request an investigation into the case of smuggling gold via one of the Iraqi Airways planes .”
It is worth noting that Article (14/First) of the Integrity and Illicit Gains Commission Law No. (30 of 2011) as amended states: “The investigating judge shall notify the legal department of the Commission when he begins the investigation into any corruption case, and shall inform it of the progress of the investigation therein upon its request .”
The same article stipulates in its third clause: “The investigating judge shall refer any corruption case that the Commission chooses to complete the investigation into to one of the Commission’s investigation department investigators or one of its office investigators.”
