The Federal Integrity Commission announced yesterday , Sunday, that it was able to thwart an attempt to seize state lands in Nineveh, while it indicated the arrest of (18) suspects and a number of vehicles .
A statement by the Media and Government Communications Office of the Authority said, “The Nineveh Investigation Directorate formed a working team after receiving information about a number of people seizing agricultural land belonging to the Ministry of Finance in the Bartella district/Al-Hayat Complex, and building a concrete fence to surround it from three sides, opening the streets in it, paving the sidewalks with concrete stone, and installing lighting poles .”
He added that “the work team took the initiative to move to the site of the plot of land, and was able to arrest (18) accused red-handed, cutting up the plot of land and opening streets in it, while seizing the machinery used in the work on the plot of land, and depositing the seized items in the police station of the district .”
He pointed out that “a formal seizure report was prepared for the operation that was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code, and they were presented, along with the seized items, before the judge of the Nineveh Investigation Court, which is competent to consider integrity cases, who decided to detain them pending investigation.”
