The Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence of the Ministry of Interior announced the launch of a new electronic reservation system for the unified card during the current week, indicating that it will enable the citizen to issue it for himself and his family at the location closest to the residence regardless of the place of the population.
The Director of the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence, Major General Nashat Al-Khafaji, said that “the directorate had previously suspended the electronic reservation system for the unified card in preparation for the use of a new system that will be implemented this week.”
He added that “the start of work was preceded by the preparation of the requirements and special approvals, through which the citizen will be able to apply for the reservation by day and hour, as options will be provided to him, and the citizens’ commitment to the timings will avoid a rush in the review and contribute to accelerating the completion of transactions.”
He continued that “the new system allows the citizen to apply for himself and his family at the location closest to the residence regardless of the place of the population. For example, if the citizen was born in Mosul and lives in Babylon, he can apply from Babylon to the Mosul population.” He pointed out that “the Directorate is in the process of providing central registration sites, with one center in each governorate in Iraq and two centers in the capital, Baghdad, to facilitate civil status transactions. This will spare citizens the trouble of traveling and moving to the governorates in order to complete transactions.”
