The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity confirmed It intends to establish 5 thermal stations, which it said would provide 10,000 megawatts .

Ministry of Electricity spokesman Ahmed Moussa explained, “The Ministry of Electricity’s five-year plan depends on establishing thermal stations, which are called closed-cycle thermal stations that operate on available types of fuel .”

He added, “The thermal stations that the Ministry is working to establish will number 5 and will be located in a number of governorates and will provide 10,000 megawatts for the electrical system .”

Moussa pointed out that “the Ministry of Electricity is determined today to diversify energy sources by implementing new projects that work on solar energy, wind, and waste recycling during the coming period .”

Iraq has been suffering for decades from a lack of electricity supply, as people are forced to buy electricity from generators belonging to investors.
