Security sources and media reports reported on Friday that Iraqi factions withdrew from Syria towards the city of Al-Qaim in Anbar, indicating that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had taken control of the Al-Bukamal crossing between Iraq and Syria .
A security source said, “Armed men from the Iraqi factions withdrew from the Syrian side towards Al-Qaim,” adding, “They have not entered Iraqi territory yet, awaiting the arrival of fundamentalist approvals and confirmation that they are all Iraqis .”
In the context, Reuters reported that “SDF forces took control of the Al-Bukamal border crossing with Iraq .”
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also indicated that “the Syrian army withdrew its forces from the areas where they were deployed in Deir Ezzor Governorate .”
He pointed out that “the Homs-Hama road is in the hands of the armed opposition.”
