The Joint Operations Command announced yesterday , Saturday, the implementation of an air strike targeting an ISIS tunnel west of Nineveh Governorate .
According to a statement by the command, this comes as a continuation of the offensive approach and pursuit of the remaining ISIS elements, as a force from the 43rd Brigade in the 20th Division carried out a search operation within the sector of the Western Nineveh Operations Command, and monitored one of the tunnels with a number of ISIS elements inside .
She added, “These defeated elements opened fire on the force, which in turn immediately responded to the sources of fire, and the place was surrounded by units of the above brigade and a force from the 44th Brigade of the Popular Mobilization Forces .”
The command continued: “In coordination and technical follow-up by the targeting cell in the Joint Operations Command, two successful air strikes were carried out by the heroic air falcons using F16 aircraft .”
