Yesterday , Friday, Iraqi politician Mithal Al-Alusi warned against Iran “involving” his country in the Syrian situation and the escalating fighting between the regular army and armed groups that have taken control of large areas inside Syria .

Al-Alusi wrote in a post on the “X” platform – formerly Twitter – that “the Syrian situation exposed the emergence of an Iraqi national interest-based situation, which, despite its simplicity, shows the confusion of Iran’s allies within the Iraqi government .”

He added that this case “exposes Iran’s ambitions to protect itself by involving Iraq in Syria as a shield to protect the Iranian collapse in Syria,” as he put it .

Iraq raised the state of military alert and deployed military reinforcements, including brigades from the army and the Popular Mobilization Forces, along the border strip with Syria .

The Washington Post recently quoted sources as saying that Iran had deployed elements from the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iraqi Shiite factions in Syria to support the Syrian army in repelling the “sudden” advance of armed groups that had seized the city of Aleppo and neighboring towns and villages.
