Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) said it has signed a 136 billion won (US$93.7 million) deal to export the Korean multi-purpose helicopter (KUH) to Iraq .
Under the deal, the company will deliver the helicopters to the Iraqi government by March 2029, the company said in a regulatory filing, according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency .
The Korean multi-purpose helicopter, known as the “Suryon”, is a medium-sized utility helicopter, and has been deployed to the South Korean military since 2012 .
More than 200 Surion helicopters are currently in service with the South Korean military, carrying out various operations, including air assault missions and airlifting of cargo.
