Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani announced the nomination of new areas for inclusion on the World Heritage List .
Al-Badrani said, “The number of archaeological sites that were discovered during the current year is very large,” indicating that “there are about 40 excavation missions currently working .”
He added, “We have nominated a number of archaeological sites that will be added to the world heritage, including Assyrian Nineveh and other areas,” stressing that “work is ongoing to restore the destroyed antiquities in the city of Mosul .”
