Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil announced that the first corneal transplant surgery was performed in the city of Mosul .

Al-Dakhil said after supervising the first corneal transplant operation at the Specialized Center for Ophthalmology and Surgery in Nineveh, “The operation was conducted by a joint medical staff from Iraq and Turkey,” indicating that the Specialized Eye Center in Nineveh is the first of its kind and receives medical cases from Mosul and nearby governorates .

The Governor of Nineveh pointed out that “Nineveh Governorate financed and equipped the Specialized Eye Center with the latest equipment to make the work in this center a success .”

He added, “Today, Nineveh has 19 projects within the governorate’s allocations to establish hospitals, some of which have been completed and the other part is under construction,” stressing that “the total number of hospitals in Nineveh will be 29 hospitals by the end of the year 2026. “
