The representative of Nineveh Governorate, Luqman Al-Rashidi, confirmed yesterday , Wednesday, that political interventions from outside the governorate caused the disruption of the work of the governorate council during the past period .

Al-Rashidi said “The political interference practiced by political parties from outside the province (he did not name them) was the main reason for creating the political crisis witnessed by the provincial council and led to its disruption throughout the past period,” he added, “If it were not for the foreign interference in Nineveh’s affairs, the disagreement and disruption in the work of the provincial council would not have occurred .”

Al-Rashidi called on the members of the Nineveh Council to “activate dialogue, overcome all previous differences, and begin a new phase and create a strong council capable of issuing decisions and legislation that serve the interests of the province .”

Last Tuesday, Nineveh Provincial Council held its first session after a boycott and disruption that lasted for about 3 months, due to the political crisis that struck the council against the backdrop of the vote on the heads of administrative units .

Although the United Nineveh and Democratic blocs entered the last session , the two blocs confirmed that the differences are still ongoing and have not been fully resolved regarding the issue of administrative powers .
