The German Embassy in Iraq announced its commitment to support Nineveh Governorate in the reconstruction and development phase and support for stability that began after the operations to retake Mosul from the grip of ISIS .
“Germany is committed to continuing support and cooperation with Iraq in general and Nineveh in particular in the field of supporting reconstruction and stability efforts in the post-ISIS phase ,” said Roland Westbe, Deputy Head of the German Mission in Iraq, during a press conference with Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil, on the sidelines of his visit to the city of Mosul.
During the conference, the German official revealed German projects being implemented in Mosul in the energy, health, and other sectors. He also announced a new project to provide alternative energy at the University of Mosul, funded by the German Development Bank .
Vestbe praised the reconstruction achieved by Nineveh and Mosul in particular after the total destruction caused by ISIS during its occupation of the city .
For his part, Al-Dakhil stressed Nineveh’s aspiration for more cooperation with the German side, while pointing out that the German side financed and implemented many projects in Nineveh in the fields of energy and electricity .
He pointed out that the German side will implement a project for renewable alternative energy based on solar energy at the University of Mosul, which will provide electrical energy to the entire University of Mosul and supply the surplus electrical energy .
The Governor of Nineveh called on German companies to come to the city of Mosul and invest in it, especially energy sector companies and to establish factories in order to establish a pharmaceutical factory in the governorate by the German side.
