Nineveh Agriculture Directorate announced the start of preparations to launch the 2024-2025 winter agricultural season .
The Assistant Director of Nineveh Agriculture, Abdullah Saeed, said, “The Nineveh Agriculture Directorate, under the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture, has begun preparations to launch the agricultural season 2-24-2025 .”
Saeed added, “The Nineveh Agriculture Directorate has begun coordinating with seed production companies to provide distinguished farmers in all areas of the governorate with first-class and basic-grade wheat seeds,” stressing that “the Ministry of Agriculture is keen to make the current season a success, as happened last year, when the highest wheat production rates in the country’s history were achieved .”
He added, “The Nineveh Agriculture Directorate has also begun preparing to distribute the remaining supplies to farmers, such as fertilizers, fuel, and other requirements for the agricultural season .”
He added, “The irrigated lands in Nineveh through sprinkler projects amount to 284 thousand dunums, while work is underway to expand those areas to 688 thousand dunums,” while he pointed out that “the lands irrigated through river projects and irrigation projects amount to more than 30 thousand dunums.”
