The Director of the Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate, Ruwaid, denied tonight, Tuesday, the news circulating on social media about the existence of a conflict between the reconstruction of the riverfront in Mosul and the search and discovery operations related to the historic city wall in the old city .

The Director of the Inspectorate confirmed that the work on the riverfront will continue as planned, without any impact on the search operations for the wall, noting that the teams of the Antiquities Inspectorate are searching for the wall separately and without affecting the progress of the heritage riverfront project .

The Director of the Inspectorate explained that the Inspectorate teams continue to uncover parts of the historic Mosul Wall that extends from the old bridge to the fifth bridge on the banks of the Tigris River, without conflicting with reconstruction projects in the area. He stressed that the Inspectorate will work to rebuild the wall or complete what is missing from it after the completion of the uncovering operations, including its historic gates .

Some websites had circulated news indicating that there were obstacles in the riverfront project due to the search for the wall, but H stressed that these operations are being carried out in a coordinated manner without affecting the development of the riverfront .

Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil announced the start of reconstruction work on the riverfront, which includes building and modernizing 273 houses according to the modern architectural style, as part of efforts to develop the area while preserving the city’s heritage character.
