Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil stressed the importance of the general population census project for Nineveh Governorate and all of Iraq.

Al-Dakhil said during his inspection of the work of enumeration and numbering of houses carried out by the Nineveh Statistics Department that the general development census of the population aims to create a database on the numbers of the population and their economic status, and thus help the governorates obtain their financial rights in the budget, indicating that Nineveh is exposed to great injustice in the budget file due to the adoption of the percentages of its population as less than 3 million people, while in reality its population exceeds 4 million and may reach about 5 million.

For his part, the Director of Nineveh Statistics, Nawfal Suleiman, announced that the census, inventory and numbering operations for buildings and residential homes will continue from the beginning of September until the end of next October.

Suleiman said that the census and numbering work will include about five hundred and seventy thousand houses and buildings and will include more than ten thousand neighborhoods, areas and villages throughout Nineveh Governorate with the participation of more than two thousand and five hundred people from the educational cadres and support teams who are participating in the preparations for the census process scheduled to be conducted on the twentieth of next November.
