The Supreme Census Committee in Nineveh announced yesterday , Saturday, the launch of the first phase of the population census process in the governorate .
Director of Nineveh Statistics, Nawfal Suleiman, said, “The first phase of the population census process began in the governorate today (November 16 and will continue until November 19) .”
He added, “The census process will be in 3 stages, the first ending on the 19th, the second on the 20th and 21st, while the third stage will be on the 23rd to confirm births and deaths .”
Sulaiman called on the people to cooperate in order to make this national mission a success, given its utmost importance in determining and drawing the shape of the population map and development plans in the next phase .
Suleiman also called for leaving the documents at home and having someone represent the family to provide the correct information .
For their part, Mosul activists called for active participation in the population census process, as it determines the fate, future and form of citizens’ entitlements in the future .
Mosul activist Saif Al-Hamdan told Shafaq News Agency, “The people must participate and cooperate in the census process and it should not be like what happened in previous elections, where the people leave for the Kurdistan Region to spend the holiday there.”
