The Compensation, Injured and Displaced Persons Committee in the Nineveh Governorate Council confirmed There is a significant delay in disbursing compensation amounts to those affected by military and terrorist operations in the governorate .
The head of the committee, Muhammad Arif, explained that “the compensation transactions that have been completed for those affected in Nineveh exceed 70,000 transactions, and what has been disbursed so far does not exceed 50,000 transactions .”
Arif added, “There are 20,000 compensation transactions for those affected by Nineveh whose amounts have not been disbursed by the Ministry of Finance, which indicates that there is a delay in the ministry regarding the disbursement of compensation .”
Arif called on the Prime Minister to intervene immediately and “instruct the Ministry of Finance to disburse the amounts owed to those entitled to them in the governorate .”
Although more than 7 years have passed since the liberation of Nineveh from the control of ISIS, the problem of compensation for those affected by military operations has not yet ended, despite repeated government promises that the year 2023 will be the year to end the compensation file in Nineveh.
