The head of Nineveh Provincial Council, Ahmed Al-Hasoud, issued a clarification regarding his hosting in the parliamentary regions committee to discuss the issue of electing heads of administrative units in the province, which caused a political crisis that has been ongoing for two months.

Al-Hassoud said in a statement that he confirmed to the parliamentary committee that the session to elect heads of administrative units was held legally , by majority vote, and without any violations.

He explained that the Parliamentary Regions Committee recommended that nominations for future appointments be opened .

The Parliamentary Committee on Regions and Governorates hosted the Chairman of Nineveh Provincial Council and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the committee discussed what happened in the fourteenth session of the Nineveh Provincial Council, which included the dismissal and election of a number of heads of administrative units in the province.

The committee explained that the Nineveh Council relied on principles that do not comply with the law in electing the heads of administrative units.

The committee confirmed that it had agreed with the head of the provincial council, Ahmed Al-Hasoud, to reconsider the election process that took place in the aforementioned session and to approve the circulars of the Regions and Governorates Committee explaining the mechanism for electing heads of administrative units.
