The head of the Energy Committee in the Nineveh Provincial Council, Ahmed Al-Abd Rabbah, explained yesterday , Wednesday, the economic importance of the social benefit project that was presented for discussion in the Nineveh Council session the day before yesterday, Tuesday, after a 3-month hiatus due to the dispute over the issue of appointing and replacing heads of administrative units .

Al-Abd Rabbo said, “The social benefit project that the council discussed in yesterday’s session has great economic and social importance for the people of the province, and therefore the blocs boycotting the council sessions (the Unified Nineveh Bloc and the Kurdistan Democratic Bloc) participated in the session .”

He added, “The social benefit project includes allocating amounts from the revenues of the Najma and Qayyarah oil fields south of Mosul worth $30 million over the next three years, at a rate of $10 million annually,” indicating that “these amounts will be allocated to the health and education sectors and will have a positive impact on developing these two important sectors .”

Last Tuesday, Nineveh Provincial Council held its first session after a boycott and disruption of the council’s work that lasted for about 3 months due to the vote on the heads of administrative units .

The session comes after the Nineveh United Bloc and the Kurdistan Democratic Party ended their boycott of the “service” sessions after a decision to boycott following the political crisis witnessed by the council .

Although the United Nineveh and Kurdistan Democratic blocs entered yesterday’s session, members of the two blocs confirmed that the differences are still ongoing and have not been resolved regarding the issue of heads of administrative units .
