Nineveh Council member, Marwan Al-Taie, called on the council to submit an official letter to the Nineveh Governor to implement the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court, and he stressed that the decision to appoint heads of administrative units elected by the council will improve the reality of services and reduce administrative corruption in the governorate .
Al-Taie stressed in a statement the “necessity of implementing the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court regarding the appointment of heads of administrative units elected by the Council, with the exception of Mosul District .”
In the statement, Al-Taie stressed the importance of this decision in improving the workflow and providing services to citizens, pointing out that some district and sub-district directors have failed to perform their duties and have files of administrative and financial corruption .
He explained that the decision to appoint new heads of administrative units will contribute positively to improving the reality of services in areas that are witnessing significant shortcomings, stressing that Sinjar District is at the forefront of the districts that need new and effective management .
Al-Taie also pointed out that the Mosul district was not part of the vote on the appointment of the new mayor, who will be retired after the end of his term of service .
Last Thursday, the Supreme Administrative Court rejected the appeals submitted by the heads of eight administrative units in Nineveh, confirming that the session to dismiss them from their positions, which was held by the Nineveh Provincial Council, was legal .
It is noteworthy that these collective exemptions came from the “Coordination Framework” alliances led by “Nineveh Future” in the Nineveh Council at the beginning of the provincial council’s assumption of its duties, which sparked widespread controversy within the council, and its repercussions are still causing disagreements to this day. Those exempted had filed appeals with the court, stressing that their exemption procedures were illegal .
