The Parliamentary Committee for Endowments detected “technical” errors in the Hajj lottery while hosting the Hajj and Umrah Authority and verifying the winners’ information .

The head of the parliamentary endowments committee, Hussein Al-Yassari, said: The committee hosted the general managers and supervisors of the Hajj lottery program at the Hajj and Umrah Authority, with the aim of discussing the technical errors that marred the lottery process .

Al-Yassari explained that “the hosting included a detailed explanation of the Hajj lottery, where it became clear that there were clear technical errors in the program prepared by the University of Technology .”

Al-Yassari pointed out that the committee decided to invite the winners of the Hajj lottery to conduct a manual audit of the information they provided through the Hajj offices in Baghdad and the governorates .

He stressed that “winners who provided incorrect information or who have previously performed Hajj will be disqualified .”

Al-Yassari said that “re-drawing the Hajj raffle is not possible after announcing the names of the winners,” explaining that “the seats that will become vacant after excluding the unqualified names will be allocated to the elderly who will be chosen instead of them .”

On September 9, MP Nisan Al-Zayer, a member of the Parliamentary Human Rights Committee, submitted a request to the Iraqi Parliament Presidency to host the head of the Hajj and Umrah Commission, Sami Al-Masoudi, against the backdrop of the results of the Hajj lottery, which raised many questions and doubts about its integrity .

The announcement of the results of the Hajj lottery in Baghdad sparked a wave of controversy among elderly Iraqi citizens whose applications were rejected .

The Hajj and Umrah Authority announced that the draw included 3,216 seats for the 2025 season.
