The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee revealed yesterday , Wednesday, that the Iraqi Intelligence Service Law is ready for voting and is expected to be passed after the legislative recess of the Council, indicating that disagreements over other laws have postponed the approval of the Intelligence Law .

Committee member Ali Nima Al-Bandawi said, “The Intelligence Service Law is one of the important laws that concerns a segment of the security forces, given that the Intelligence Service is complementary to the security services and is an important and vital apparatus and is considered the nerve of the Iraqi state .”

He explained that “the Intelligence Service Law was read twice and amendments were made to it, and we discussed it four times within the Security and Defense Committee in the presence of the head of the service, the senior staff, and the legal and security departments in it, and a group of proposals and amendments from the political forces and representatives were received on the law .”

Al-Bandawi confirmed that “the Intelligence Service Law is ready for voting, and it was presented twice for voting, but due to the lack of quorum due to the presence of a group of laws that were with him, and the disagreements were over the other laws and not over the Intelligence Service Law, so the voting on it was postponed until after the legislative holiday .”

Earlier today, the Iraqi Prime Minister issued an order appointing Hamid Al-Shatri as head of the intelligence service .

A government source said Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has appointed Hamid al-Shatri as head of the Iraqi Intelligence Service .

Al-Shatri previously held the position of head of the National Security Service.
