A member of the Nineveh Provincial Council revealed, on Sunday, the results of the initial investigation into the governorate’s education file, indicating the existence of interference and control by political parties and figures .

The council member (who preferred not to be named as he is part of the investigation committee) said: The committee formed by members of the Nineveh Provincial Council began initial investigations with the province’s education department regarding the file of settling the owners and political and partisan interference in it .

The member explained that the committee’s preliminary results “proved the existence of major interference by political parties and figures from Mosul who manipulate and control the staff settlement file and interfere in the transfers or retention of educational and teaching cadres in Mosul and some districts and sub-districts .”

The member added that the interventions also “included the seizure of the school buildings file, in which some political figures in Nineveh are interfering .”

Earlier, Nineveh Provincial Council member Layal Al-Bayati revealed political interference in the Nineveh Education file, as some parties controlled appointments and transfers within the directorate, and pointed to the appointment of “contractors” as general managers in violation of the regulations .

Al-Bayati confirmed that administrative orders issued by the Minister of Education under political pressure led to the transfer of more than 200 employees in Nineveh Education, which affected the situation of schools suffering from a vacancy in educational cadres .

At the same time, an informed source confirmed that there were interventions by some representatives in transferring 250 teachers and instructors, and appointing new employees despite them being on work contracts, which led to a deterioration in the educational level.
