Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani confirmed that the electricity projects that were inaugurated today had been stalled for years .
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement, “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani today inaugurated, via video conference, a number of electric power projects in Nineveh and Salah al-Din governorates, which are concerned with solving bottlenecks in the transportation and distribution sectors .”
He added that “the new projects included the Mosul Dam station with two transformers with a capacity of (2x 250 MVA) , the Yarmoukah South Power Station with a capacity of (132 KVA) , the addition of transmission lines from Yarmoukah to the Al-Kayarah station with a capacity of (3x 63 MVA) , and the opening of the expansion of the Baiji transformer station with a capacity of (2x 250 MVA) with the implementation of the Baiji-South Tikrit transmission lines .”
In a speech during the opening of the new projects, the Prime Minister praised “the efforts of workers in various sectors of the Ministry of Electricity,” expressing his “appreciation for what they have accomplished under exceptional circumstances and timing .”
He pointed out that “these projects suffered from procrastination for years, after they were sabotaged by ISIS terrorist gangs, and were completed by qualified national cadres, with equipment from the most modern international sources, and the use of new technology that was introduced for the first time into the national system, especially in the Mosul station .”
He explained that “these projects come in accordance with the scientific diagnosis, which reveals that there is a problem in transmission and distribution that is equivalent to the shortage in the production of electrical energy,” explaining that “any development in the transmission sector and solving the bottlenecks of the national network will have a positive impact in the form of adding a new capacity to produce electrical energy .”
The Prime Minister affirmed “the government’s progress and direction towards this development that allows for transfer and flexibility in energy transfer, reducing loads, and achieving stability in the hours of supply reaching the citizen, which will support achieving development in other sectors, in addition to confirming the direction to complete all stalled projects and finish them completely.”
