Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani confirmed yesterday , Sunday, that the ancient Nineveh Wall is an indication of the historical depth of the province .
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated that “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani conducted a field tour in the left side of Mosul city and reviewed the project to rehabilitate the ancient Nineveh Wall .”
He added, “The Prime Minister followed up on the ongoing work to rehabilitate the wall, as it represents a civilized facade and an indication of the historical depth of Mosul society .”
The Prime Minister stressed, according to the statement, that “the ancient wall of Mosul is one of the most important archaeological landmarks of Nineveh, and dates back to the Assyrian capital. ISIS terrorist gangs destroyed this wall during the occupation of Mosul, and the city wall was listed and revived in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities and Nineveh Governorate .”
He continued, “The Ministry, under direct supervision, has revived the northwestern part with a length of (400) m, and the work has been completed at a rate of (100%) as a response to terrorism, and it has been restored according to international specifications approved by UNESCO.”
