Baqaei said that Araghchi “will head to Damascus on Sunday to hold talks with the Syrian authorities,” before heading to Turkey to hold “consultations on regional issues, especially the recent developments .”
Iranian state media reported that Araghchi told his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in a phone call that the attacks by the armed factions were “part of an Israeli-American plan to destabilize the region .”
The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement about the call, saying that the two ministers “expressed deep concern over the dangerous escalation of the situation in Syria due to the terrorist attack launched by armed groups in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib .”
The two ministers agreed on the need to intensify joint efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation in Syria.
