The Taqadum parliamentary bloc announced its boycott of the House of Representatives sessions until the general amnesty law is passed .

The head of the bloc, Abdul Karim Abtan, said during a press conference held in the House of Representatives: “While we affirm our full commitment and keenness to strengthen the democratic process, consolidate the principles of justice and fairness, and adhere to the political agreements that we pledged to implement with our partners and support the government and its program, one of the most important issues addressed in the political agreement paper in the government program is the legislation to amend the general amnesty law, to achieve a more secure, stable and just future, and to provide justice to the oppressed and innocent .”

He added that “not including the paragraph on voting on amending the general amnesty law and completing the voting on it within the House of Representatives sessions represents a violation of one of the most important provisions of the political agreement paper and the government program .”

Abtan pointed out that “the Progress Bloc was and still is keen to pass this important law, which aims to lift the injustice from the innocent of our Iraqi people .”

He stressed that “the Progress parliamentary bloc announces its boycott of the House of Representatives sessions until the paragraph on voting on the law is included in the agenda of the upcoming sessions, in belief in the rights of our people, and in fulfillment of our political obligations and pledges to the families of the oppressed .”

Abtan called on other political forces to “pressure for the approval of this law and other important laws that have been agreed upon, to meet the popular demands awaiting this package of laws.”
