MP Nayef Al-Shammari confirmed that the Iraqi forces took over a guard post from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) west of Nineveh, noting that there are no tensions on the Iraqi-Syrian border and that the security situation is completely stable .
Al-Shammari said “The Iraqi forces took over a guard post from the Syrian Democratic Forces, and an agreement was reached to take over the post smoothly. The situation is very safe, and there is no threat or tension in the area .”
A security source explained that “the Iraqi border guard forces, while placing concrete barriers on the border south of Rabia district, discovered an area controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) through a guard post .”
The source added, “At first, the Border Guard Forces asked the SDF to retreat into Syrian territory, but they initially refused, but later understandings led to their withdrawal and the complete handover of the area to the Iraqi forces .”
The source confirmed that “the handover of the point took place smoothly without any clashes, and that coordination between the two parties contributed to achieving this important security accomplishment on the border.”
