The Iraqi Council of Ministers voted during its regular session yesterday , Monday, to exempt retirees from the decision to deduct 1% of salaries .

The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a brief statement that “the Council of Ministers voted to exempt retirees from the decision to deduct 1% of salaries to support Gaza and Lebanon, retroactively, as of the date of its issuance on November 24, 2024. “

It is noteworthy that a controversy arose in the Iraqi street regarding the deduction of 1% of the salaries of employees and retirees to support Gaza and Lebanon, after the amounts were deducted retroactively for two months .

This decision angered retirees who considered it “unjust” in light of the deteriorating living conditions, while human rights offices and representatives demanded the cancellation of this decision.
