Nineveh Governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil confirmed that the Mosul International Airport project is the identity of the governorate and its destination for transportation to all parts of the world, pointing out its important role in bringing capital and investments to the governorate.
During his visit to the airport and inspection of the progress of reconstruction operations, Al-Dakhil confirmed that the reconstruction of the navigation tower is underway, as well as the air cargo facilities.
Al-Dakhil, who was accompanied on the visit by the governorate’s reconstruction assistant, Engineer Abdul Wahab Sultan, explained that the airport’s navigational devices have been 70% manufactured, in addition to the complete completion of the runway, where work is underway to install runway lighting.
Regarding the timing of the airport’s opening, Al-Dakhil confirmed that it will open at the end of this year and within the international specifications prepared by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Air Navigation Company in the Ministry of Transport.
The airport reconstruction file witnessed widespread public and political controversy, as the file was marred by many indicators and delays, which political sources explained at the time were for political reasons.
