The representative of Nineveh Governorate, Mohammed Nouri Al-Abd Rabbah, revealed the Iraqi government’s restructuring of the Badush Dam project in the city of Mosul, despite it being one of the strategic projects.

This is the second time that work on the Badush Dam project has been frozen, after work had previously stopped in the 1990s.

MP Mohammed Nouri Al-Abd Rabbo said: “The Iraqi government’s decision to restructure and freeze work on the Badush Dam project is a major and strategic mistake, as the project is one of the most important strategic projects with economic benefits for Nineveh and all of Iraq.”

He added: “This decision is a government blunder and will have a negative impact on Nineveh and Iraq,” indicating that the Iraqi government should have allocated one of the international grants to complete the project to enhance the water supply in the country, in addition to protecting Mosul, Baghdad and other Iraqi cities from the risk of the collapse of the Mosul Dam if it occurs.”
