Yesterday , Sunday, the Supreme Judicial Council issued two death sentences against an ISIS member and the killers of the Al-Sharqiya channel staff in the Salah al-Din and Dhi Qar governorates .
The judiciary stated in a statement that “Salah al-Din Criminal Court issued a death sentence against a terrorist criminal belonging to the terrorist ISIS gangs,” noting that “the terrorist participated with the terrorist ISIS gangs in fighting the security forces and urged citizens to join them .”
He added, “The ruling was issued based on the provisions of Articles 2/1, 3, 5 and 7, and in accordance with Article 4/1 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005. “
He pointed out that “the Dhi Qar Criminal Court issued a death sentence against two terrorists for the murder of a journalist and a photographer working for Al-Sharqiya Channel in 2013,” indicating that “the two terrorists committed this crime in the city of Mosul while preparing a press report for the channel and for terrorist motives .”
He added, “The ruling was issued in accordance with the provisions of Article 2 1/3/4 and in accordance with Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005.”
