The Ministry of Interior signed a contract with a Korean company to equip it with two firefighting aircraft .
The ministry said in a statement that “in the presence of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the Director of Contracts at the Ministry of Interior signed a contract with the South Korean Aerospace Industries Company for the benefit of the Interior Aviation Directorate to equip two specialized aircraft for firefighting .”
She added, “The contract includes training Iraqi pilots, technicians and engineers on these two aircraft, which can carry about 3,000 liters of water .”
According to the statement, the Minister described this contract as a historic step to activate the work of the Interior Aviation Directorate after years of its formation, as well as to strengthen the joint bilateral relations between the two countries .
The Minister also signed a memorandum of understanding with the South Korean delegation, which included the military attaché, the Undersecretary of the Korean Ministry of Defense, and a number of officers .
The signing of the contract and the memorandum of understanding was attended by the Director General of Civil Defense, the Director of Contracts, and the Director of Interior Aviation from the Iraqi Ministry of Interior .
It is hoped that this contract will be completed in the near future to develop the work of the Civil Defense Directorate by making use of these two aircraft that have high specifications.
