Mosul Municipality announced the start of a large-scale campaign to rehabilitate the northern forests located within the forest area .
Faisal Zayan, Director of the Parks and Forests Division in the Municipality, said that the Municipality has begun a campaign to rehabilitate the northern forests, which includes planting perennial forest trees and rehabilitating the areas damaged by fires and lack of follow-up, which are estimated at an area of 200 dunums.
The tourist forest area is suffering from a significant and record decline in the number of trees and green areas due to the fires it has been exposed to over the past years, in addition to violations and renting by the owners of projects and wedding halls.
