Nineveh Council member Sajida Al-Afandy revealed the existence of 20 stalled projects throughout the province, while confirming that companies have been stopped from working on many stalled projects .
Al-Afandy said, “Nineveh has made great strides in addressing the issue of stalled projects in the province,” indicating that “the local government has resumed work on the stalled projects and withdrawn work from the companies implementing a number of them and transferred them to other companies in order to complete them quickly and within the required specifications .”
She added that “the most important stalled project in Nineveh during the past period was the Mosul Airport project,” noting that “this stalling came as a result of problems in financial funding, and this issue has now been resolved following the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Mosul .”
Earlier, Nineveh Governor Abdul Qader Al-Dakhil confirmed that the number of stalled projects in the province had declined in recent months from 146 projects to only 17 projects .
Last month, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed the opening of Mosul International Airport on June 10 of this year .
