Syrian media revealed yesterday , Monday, that the head of the Salvation Government in Idlib, Muhammad al-Bashir, was assigned to head a transitional government in Syria .

This came after a meeting between the commander of the armed opposition operations department, Ahmed al-Sharaa “al-Jolani,” al-Bashir, and the former regime’s prime minister, Mohammed al-Jalali, who was tasked with running the affairs of the former regime’s government, with the aim of determining arrangements for the transfer of power and avoiding Syria entering a state of chaos .

Who is it?

Muhammad Al-Bashir was born in Idlib Governorate, Jabal Al-Zawiya region, in 1983 .

He holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Department of Communications at the University of Aleppo 2007 .

He holds a degree in Sharia and Law from Idlib University 2021 .

He worked as the head of the precision instrumentation department at the gas plant of the Russian Gas Company in 2011 .

He previously held the position of Director of Association Affairs at the Ministry of Development of the Salvation Government in Idlib .

He worked as Minister of Development and Humanitarian Affairs in the Salvation Government in Idlib in 2022 .

He chaired the Council of Ministers of the Salvation Government in its seventh session at the beginning of this year, and was appointed as its president .

The opposition tasked him with forming a new Syrian government to manage the transitional phase after it succeeded in toppling Bashar al-Assad’s government on December 8, 2024.
