Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed The importance of optimal investment for irrigation and water projects scheduled to be implemented with Turkey, while he directed the launch of the first package of water and irrigation projects .
The Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani presided A meeting was devoted to discussing the first package of water projects within the framework agreement between Iraq and Turkey signed between the two sides last April, which includes 13 projects, in addition to the projects that fall within the investment plan .
Al-Sudani stressed – during the meeting, according to the statement – that “the launch of these projects will provide new management of the water file,” pointing out, “the importance of focusing on treatment plants, sewage projects, water resources projects, and strategic projects .”
He stressed, “the necessity of studying projects for agricultural reclamation, irrigation, and water confinement dams through a group of relevant ministries,” directing, “to form technical teams in each ministry to choose future strategic projects .”
The Prime Minister also directed “the launch of the first package of projects, especially with the availability of the allocated funds, as well as the formation of a specialized technical team in the Ministry of Water Resources, based on the joint agreement, to undertake technical matters, archiving, and communicating with the Turkish side and using the expertise available to them .”
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, “The projects were divided into 6 projects within the Ministry of Water Resources, 5 projects under the responsibility of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities, and two projects within the Ministry of Agriculture, and varied between projects to reclaim irrigation networks, closed irrigation systems, or projects to dig main and subsidiary canals or dams to store water.” “.
